BLOCKING: STRUZAN DIAMOND
The Struzan studies continue! I wanted to look for more patterns in Drew Struzan’s work to break down his methods, and a composition that popped up more and more was a diamond layout. The diamond layout keeps the eye moving around the composition in a circle:
There may be slight variations, but more or less, the diamond is upright and regular:
And here is where what I call the “Struzan Diamond” comes in - it adds more rotation or skew to the diamond by not having the top and bottom points be directly aligned with each other. This adds a little more tension and movement to the composition:
