Blocking: clarifiers part 2
Continuing the study. Part 2 of the study will go over strobe trails.
Strobe trails are when the is a freeze-frame ghosted trail of the subject instead of a singular streak. An example from a 1962 comic below of Ant Man shows a history of freeze frame poses creating an animation all within one singular image.
This same idea was used in the movie. The strobed streak allows the movie to do faster shrinks/grows and have a history to let the movement register to the audience.
Avengers: Age of Ultron used a mix of a traditional trail and strobe trail in the shot below;
