Visual interest: lens flares part 4
The next study in the on-going lens flares topic is about a flare’s ghost. During an eclipse, the the ghost component of the lens flare will resemble the eclipsed light source.
This also extends to crescent shots of the Moon:
This effect also trickles down to actual shadows. In LA during the 2017 eclipse, I took photos capturing both the lens flare above and the dappled tree shadows below which also had the crescent shape.
