This study goes over how lens flares can match a shape language of a movie. In the movie Promare, the shapes and effects are many primitives (triangles and squares), and this is the first time I’ve seen lens flares follow a stylized language:
The flares are anamorphic, but the flare source is blocky/aliased, and the flare ghosts are squares:
